Situado no alto das montanhas Rif, Chefchaouen é uma magnífica medina azul e branca murada que anteriormente era um posto berbere. Fundada em 1471 por Moulay Ali Ben Moussa, Ben Rached El Alamiand é agora praticamente uma ruína e ao lado dela está a grande mesquita. Chefchaouen era uma fortaleza moura para exilados da Espanha. Ao longo dos séculos, a cidade se expandiu e acolheu judeus e cristãos convertidos. A praça principal é considerada o coração de Chefchaouen, com o kasbah construído no século XVIII, a mesquita central e cafés com menus originais de estilo marroquino. O mercado está cheio de uma mistura de souvenires tradicionais marroquinos e para turistas. A Medina é pequena e a cidade é fácil de explorar, portanto você pode dar uma caminhada na praça principal e nos souks que vendem uma variedade de produtos.

Really enjoyed this trip. The drive to the city was very interesting. The guide in the city took us on a comfortable pace through many different parts of the city. Stopping often to point out items of interest about the culture and giving a detailed description of the background and meaning. Both the guide and the driver coordinated their portions of the tour to make sure we had the opportunity to see the maximum amount of the city, but still stay on schedule with our ship's departure schedule.

My driver and tour guide were very professional and knowledgeable. Chefchaouen is a beautiful village to tour. Amazing photos, lots of walking and great shopping that is cheaper than the bigger cities. The people dont harass you to purchase items from their shops. Lots of authentic items and memories for a lifetime. I would visit Chefchaouen over and over because its so unique. Its like going back in time and feeling like you were there in the early days.
