the tour was great the guide was really helpful we saw some lovely places the only thing about this trip was that the vesuvius tour part could not take place as the fires were bad and the roads were shut
1st of all this is excellent value for money as doing it yourself would involve a lot of planning etc Amalfi tour was very good Rosella our guide is fantastic tells you all about where your going and offers lots of good advice for when you get there too combined with her multilingual talents and a sense of humour she made the trip very enjoyable indeed long day over 10 hours so be prepared for that but enough time spent in the various stops and the scenery here is defo must see. Got the option of a boat trip when in Amalfi which was 13 euros but was worth it as you can see so much more from the sea. Vesuvious tour was not as good Francesco our guide who I later found out only started the job at the start of the week needs to put more stuff/knowledge into the tour prior to going up Vesuvious tickets to go up to the crater are 10 euros for a guided tour but let's not gloss this rip off as our guided tour was some guy saying we were 4000 ft above sea level and last eruption was in 1944 prior to 79 ad eruption then it was off you go to see the crater.......hardly a guided tour and mid April it had a biting freezing cold wind at the top so take note!! also word of advice there was a guy at the entrance handing out wooden sticks which appeared like it was as a helpful gesture free of charge but when you go back he's looking for 1 euro for the rental lol....crater itself is just that it's a 1 off thing that you might as well do if your there a once only never to be done again experience for the photos and the view which is magnificent so 1 good guide one still in training but for the cost well worth it and no problems getting picked up on time from where it was arranged.
We travelled to Mount Vesuvius on the first part of our tour. It was just long enough for us to enjoy the countryside on the way there and have time to explore the top of the mountain. It was strange being able to view the open maw of the volcano. By early afternoon, we were back in town so that we could indulge in other activities during the remainder of our day. We travelled along the Amalfi Coast on the second day of this tour. We certainly were lucky to have a professional driver to navigate along the narrow and twisty roads the line coast with stops in Amalfi and Ravello. In Amalfi, we had the option of purchasing tickets for an additional boat tour. We took advantage of this and it gave us different views of the coast, along with sights that otherwise would not be visible to us from land. It was totally worth it. The Amalfi Coast is certainly worth seeing. It's simply gorgeous! The only thing that I would change is maybe adding a little more time to explore Ravello.
Both trips 1st class fully recommend
Both the tours were well organized. Amalfi trip could have been a bit better if we followed the same route on return as well. we were told by the local travel company this was not possible because they had to use a big Bus on that particular day overbooking?. However, they added a Boat tour of Amalfi coast on extra payment which was a good idea.
