This tour was excellent but be warned it is very frenetic in order to fit everything in. We were on a cruise so only had 2 days for our visit and this tour was perfect and much cheaper than the cruise company's but visited the same places. We were obliged to take a formally organised tour as it includes the visa, which is required. The first day it took about 40 minutes to get through passport control but the second day was much slicker taking only about 5 minutes. The tour guide was waiting for us once clear of passport control. We would have liked to have had more time at some of the locations and had some free time to explore on our own. Our guide, Svetlana. was very knowledgeable and ensured we lost as little time queuing (and most places have queues!) as possible and kept up a running commentary throughout the tour. Had we been able to have made changes to the itinerary we would have forgone the lunch each day and also the shopping stops in order to have had some free time. This is a full on two days and we were pleased to get a rest once the tour ended. Our guide did her best to fit in any specific requests to visit places the party wanted to see. We specifically asked to have a Metro ride and even though it added some time to our tour the guide and driver obliged giving us a two stop train ride. The tour certainly gave an excellent overview of st Petersburg and whetted our appetite to return at some time in the future and explore more under our own steam. We would recommend the tour.
Of course there is so much to see in St. Petersburg, but this 2-day excursion did a great job of hitting the high spots. Our guide was Tatiana, and along with our driver Dimitri, it was the highlight of our journey through the Baltics. it was just the right amount of info and we never felt that we stayed too long anywhere. Even the lunch stops were first rate. Tatiana was the best!!!
The ticket we bought took care of the visa requirements, easy peesy! We had an excellent tour guide, Tatiana, very knowledgeable and engaging. She had little patience for anyone in the group who didn’t follow her meet-up times at various stops, rightly so! Don’t plan on any true Russian shopping, the only opportunities to shop are at tourist places added to the itinerary based on availabile time. The usuals: Nesting dolls, amber jewelry, painted lacquer boxes, etc. Jam packed days. Only 16 guests in a nice MB a/c Van. Great lunches, wonderful boat ride—but we did have PeRFEct weather, so your experience may be different. Great value for the money compared to what the cruise ships charge for the same excursion with 40 people in a bus!
We had a very good tour guide for this 2 day tour Elena (hope it is spelled right). It was definitely a packed excursion. Elena was able to get us in to museums, churches, etc ahead of the crowd. She was very informative and organized. She kept our group together through some very crowded area. Definitely had a great first visit and "taste" of Russia.
This was the most amazing tour. We did the de lux grand tour. Two full days. Packed with interesting facts. Boat trip, Hermatage, Peterhof, Fortress, church of Spilt Blood, Catherine’s palace,Yusupov palace, st Issacs Cathedral. Plus a beautiful lunch each day. Only 16 in the group on a mini bus. Much better than a large 52 seater. Our guide and driver were incredible. Knew St Petersburg like the back of their hands. Dropped of and picked up at the door every time, can’t do that in a big coach. Guide was so knowledgeable but made it fun, also had plenty of comfort breaks in the best toilets in SP. she knew how to avoid the queues. Worth every penny.
All places were where I wanted to go. Small bus/van great for getting around. I liked the small group so we did not wait in long lines.
This was an action packed, well planned 2 days of sights and experiences- long days, but well worth the time spent. Lines during the busy season in St. Petersburg can be intense, and we were expertly escorted around them to our reserved places. This saved hours of standing in line (literally!) and the chance of missing some desirable locations. Our guide, Irena, was positive, energetic, funny, and great to work with. Distances between some locations took a while but our bus driver and vehicle were great. The price point for this tour was substantially less than our cruise ship's price, and the itinerary was better!
I give this a five because we saw it all however very quickly. Be advised it is a lot of walking and climbing stairs. Our guide was wonderful very knowledgable. Lunch first day was Italian and excellent. Second day was Russian and definitely different. This tour is well worth the time and price. If you are on a cruise ship don’t worry they are waiting for you when you get off ship and get you back to ship on time .
Our tour guide Elena was great. The tour people were waiting for us as soon as we got to port. They were very prompt and organized. I was very impressed . I am looking forward to book with them for my future trips.
The organisation of the 2 days tour was perfect. In 10 minutes we passed the visa control. We were 18 peopels in a very nice bus (with Wifi), with Philippe, a very safety driver and than with Daria, our exceptional guide who gave us large explanations in a perfect english.
Maria, our tour guide was excellent. One day of walking and climbing stairs wore my old legs out and was not able to do 2d day.
We saw so much of St. Petersburg! Maria was awesome! Her knowledge of this area was amazing. Well worth every penny.
Our guide Valery Dmitriev was AWESOME!!! We were a party of 14, so we had a bus to ourselves. We found him to be extremely knowledgeable on all the sites, he was friendly, efficient, funny and very eager to please us all. St. Petersburg was amazing. The tour covered all the major sites and gave us a great understanding of all the main tourist sites and cultural understanding of the royal families. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and I highly recommend the tour and ask for Valery!
This was a very well organised trip with professional guides. The sites we visited were were amazing.
Knowledgeable, friendly guide took us to all the interesting places. Small bus tours are the best because they are readily accessible and can get closer to the attraction.
We could not have seen or done as much in St Petersburg if we had not been on this excellent small group tour.
Our tour guide Elena is the best! She is so patient and informative and our driver Sergey was amazing. We saw everything: Day 1-Hermitage, St. Isaac Church, and Peter and Paul Church, the Fortress and Church on the Spilled Blood. Day 2: Canal ride, Catherine’s Summer Palace, and Peterhof Palace and Gardens. Authentic Russian Lunch provided on both days and bottled water. So worth it for two days of seeing the most important landmarks of St. Petersburg. SPB tours with Elena is the best!
There were 8 of us in our group plus another 7 for a total of 15 on this small group tour - it was perfect. Our guide, Val, was the EXCELLENT. He knew were to stand to get the best photo shots, angles for viewing and his English was PERFECT! He was so easy to understand and made the life and history of St. Petersburg very interesting - never boring. All 8 of us talked about how great this tour was because of Val. The driver was awesome too. He was always prompt and never kept us waiting. He stayed on the bus so we could leave things on the bus and not have to carry everything when it wasn't needed. It's a busy two days, but 100% well worth it! It was nice to get out into the "countryside" for day two to see the gardens and C Palace. Lunches were good too.
We enjoyed this tour a lot, the small bus was easy to get on and off to take pictures, our tour guide Maria was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She got us into places before they opened to the public and we never had to wait in line. Our driver got us right in front of the venues so we didn't have to waste time walking long distances. I would highly recommend this trip!!
We had a great experience. Our guide and driver did an excellent job. Our guid3 was very knowledgeable and in control of our activities each day. Our driver was responsive and was never further away than a couple of minutes. We had two great days!
Great way to see the major sights! Guide Svetlana D. and driver Alexi were amazing. Svetlana knew the history and information about everything we asked. She was personable and professional and completely thorough with her tour. We loved our time in St. Petersburg!
Our tour itinerary was awesome and we saw everything that was advertised. I wish our assigned time at the Hermitage hadn't been left to the last stop on the last day, but I know those are assigned so flexibility was limited. Our tour guide Olga was simply exceptional! She had an excellent knowledge of all the areas we visited and supplied local interesting information about culture and life in St. Petersburg. I simply can't say enough supurlatives about how fantastic she was. Made the trip very memorable and well worth the cost.
