Be prepared to learn a lot of history and hear a lot of talking. If you're someone who doesn't like tour guides who are thorough or talk throughout the whole trip, then this isn't the tour for you. However, a few people did manage to sleep through the information that was being presented whilst riding on the long bus ride. Wear a hat/visor, sunglasses, sunblock, and whatever else to protect you from the direct sunlight. You'll be exposed for quite some time. Be sure to bring your own water, and lots of it. However, there are opportunities to buy some while on this trip.
We did not leave the meeting point until almost 10 am. We wasted a lot of time going to a cenote/huge natural well and having lunch and looking at souvenirs before getting to Chichen Itza. We ended up having only 2 hours to see Chichen Itza. Not fair at all. I saw most of the site but not all of it. Very disappointing. The guides and crew were capable and friendly, good people, but most of us went to see the site..............yet only had two hours to do so. One needs at least 3 hours I think to see and enjoy the whole thing. Again, I was very disappointed by this.
