Sobre esta atividade
This half-day trip will lead you to the edge of Normandy, where you will visit the idyllic home of Claude Monet. Your small-group afternoon tour will start from Paris City Center. You will be transported aboard a luxury bus with one of our expert guides, so you can sit back, relax and make the most of your trip.
The leader of the Impressionist School lived here from 1883 to 1926, the colourful décor and pink brick facade are an intimate reminder of its former life. Once at destination in the small village of Giverny, you will have the opportunity to discover the precious collection of Japanese engravings is displayed in several rooms, hung in the marmer chosen by the master of Giverny himself. Claude Monet’s property at Giverny, left by his son to the Académie des Beaux-arts in 1966, has, after completion of large scale restoration work, become the Claude Monet Foundation, inaugurated in 1980. The huge Nymphéas studio, a stone’s throw from the house, has also been restored and contains the Foundation’s Shop.
You will also enjoy time in the gardens which have been replanted as they once were and offer visitors the “painting from nature” which Claude Monet’s contemporaries considered to be one of his masterpieces. The rectangular Clos Normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around brilliantly coloured shrubs, lies before the house and studios, offering from Spring to Autumn the palette of varying colours to the painter-gardner who was “ecstatic about flowers”. Lastly, the Water Garden, formed by a tributary of the Epte, lies further away, shaded by weeping willows. With its famous Japanese Bridge, its wistarias, azaleas and its pond, it has once more become that casket of sky and water which inspired the pictorial universe of the water lilies.

Booked a half-day tour, which was supposed to be 5 hours. This does not include waiting for driver, getting there and back - so total time at gardens is 1.5 hours. Felt rushed and had to run around in order to see everything there. Very crowded even in beginning of May, so be prepared for that. People are ushered into Monet's house like cattle and you can barely see anything. The cherry on top was the tourist office on Rue de Bourdonnaise, which was the meeting point before the trip - they wouldn't let us use their bathroom facilities even though they had one. After spending so much money on these tickets, this was very bizarre! Tour was scheduled for 1:40 pm, we were the only 2 people on the minibus, not sure why they don't have earlier hours for tours. Honestly I wish we skipped this tour.
place was awesome but the problem that it was overbooked and crowed to the pint that it was very difficult to enjoy..
Took this tour on Sept. 12th, 2018. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the impressionists and also does tours at the Louvre. She was very engaging and looked after us well, making sure we got inside the house while the line was small. Her most impressive feat was navigating the traffic circle around the L'arc du Triomphe, down the Champs Elysee and through the Place de Concorde without breaking a sweat. We gave her a hearty round of applause. Shamefully I didn't write down her name!
This tour was amazing!
Really great. We lucked out and there were only 2 of us in the group. The gardens are beautiful, and how fortunate we were. The rain that had been traveling with us all week decided to give us a reprieve while at the gardens. It didn't rain until we were in the car on the way back to Paris.
Our tour guide was the best her name was Isabel she was a wealth of information. Only 4 of us on the trip, she took through the little towns around giverny and stopped for us to take photos!
This was a half-day trip, and Chris was a very good driver at the gardens we were on our own. Besides seeing the water lilies in the pond which are so famous, it was a lovely surprise to find the rest of the gardens a riot of color and different flowers - really beautiful.
