Lana and Warren were amazing very passionate about the subject matter. It's nice to see tour guides caring about the historic site they're education you on.
We had a great time on our tour. Charlie was our tour guide and he was very informative, we learned a lot. I would recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Munich area.
Wasn’t sure how this tour was gonna go, but we had such a fun time! We had Tom loved his information on the castle and Ludwig....
Great guide from Missouri. Well versed in the history of the king and the castle. Nice bus ride through the country to get to the site and it was nice to not have to wait in line.
The castle is fanciful and lovely but an hour and half bus ride for a 30 minute tour seemed like waste of precious time. Our guide filled in the info about King Ludwig nicely. He warned us that it was a 45 min uphill climb to get to the castle which was very good to know. Not sure if time is limited I would do it again.
This day trip was something my husband and I were looking forward to and a tick off our bucket list. However, the extremely bad weather and poor visibility gave way to disappointment. Our guides, Holger and Lana were very attentive and supportive but unfortunately all their charm and information on the castle and it's inhabitant, King Ludwig while standing under the canopy of the Black Forest as the rain pelted down upon us, made concentration extremely difficult. Our chance to grab the opportunity for that fabulous photo of the castle in the background while standing on the bridge, was a non event as the cloud cover completely smothered the castle. As we walked towards the castle for our 2.35pm entrance, the venue did not have capacity to cover all those who needed protection from the torrential rain. Soaked to the bone by the time it was our turn, we finally gained entrance but were whisked away through a side entrance due to the fact the ticket machines had also broken down due to the impact of heavy rain. After all this, we were surprised that the tour was so brief. While interesting and informative, it was made uncomfortable by the fact that we were all cold and wet. You need to be physically fit if you want to climb the hill towards the castle in any weather conditions. Our guides did what they could however I strongly feel that in weather as bad as this was which was out of their control, it really should have been cancelled and money returned. Regardless of what they did, client satisfaction is low because there is disappointment all round. I can assure future clients that if this day trip was cancelled due to extremely bad weather, the decision to cancel this is far better than being soaked to the bone all day out in the elements with no arrangement made for cover while waiting for your arranged tour time. A definite must do day trip however the client should be made fully aware of the conditions prior to booking that there is an extensive waiting time (of which we were not advised until we were standing deep in the forest of a 2.35pm entrance time). The purchase of ponchos from the local stores did not provide much protection on weather such as this.
My 5 star review is for Radius Tours who coordinated the tour. Holger(our guide)was precise in his instructions so we could make every connection on time and still manage to see things on our own.
I want to start by saying that the castle is amazing and was one of my favorite things about our recent trip, but I believe this tour is advertised incorrectly and therefore my expectations were not set appropriately. This tour stated Small Group day tour, but upon arrival we learned we were being transported in a double decker bus with over 40 people. When we did arrive at the castle, we were split into 2 separate groups - and our tour guides themselves were fabulous! Our guides Dani and Tim did what we would have loved to have in a small group tour. Just be aware if you are looking for a small group tour - this is on a double decker coach and if you don't like being with a bunch of people, this is not the tour for you.
My wife and teenage sons thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Beautiful site, friendly staff and good food.
We loved this tour. Our tour guides Dan and Dani were full of information and great stories. They split our large group of 42 into 2 groups to hike up to the castle separately. They took care of the castle tickets (which we paid for separately upon tour check-in) and the timing of the hike. They gave us plenty of time and the pace was good, but if you’re out of shape like I am, or of advanced age, just be prepared. The castle tour was fine, nothing too special, but that’s different guides. The further 15-minute hike to the bridge to overlook the castle is worth it. Highly recommend it all.
the tours we took in Munich Germany were great would certainly recommend this attraction to my friends
We really enjoyed our trip to see “the castle “and our tour guide, Lana, Was excellent! She was very personable and conscientious!
Our group of 6 visited the castle. It was a great experience. Unfortunately, the outside is having restoration work done right now so we couldn't get a good look or pictures of the front side. However there is a bridge prior to arriving to the castle and this is the best spot for pictures and we did get several. The scenery from this elevation alone is worth the trip. The little village below is very nice to walk around in also.
Great tour guide, who clearly had a love and knowledge of history of the region and the castle. Transportation was seamless and nice not racing through everything. You really should be capable of walking inclines to take in the full experience
Dan was very knowledgible. It was little longer than I wanted because I wanted to come back to Munich around 6pm, so I could do some shopping but we returned back around 7.20pm and all shops around Marienplatz closed at 8pm. We had to kill a lot of free time standing around before going on the bus and train and we could have come back to Munich little earlier.
Was a fantastic experience and we just happen to be there when it snowed. Easy to walk up and must try the doughnuts. Tour guides were great
Everything inside and outside of the castle is amazing. We were very luck to have a very good weather, blue skies and snow scene, very beautiful. The castle is equally mesmerising, definitely worth the 4 hours journey to and fro from Munich HBF.
We had a great day trip, about 1 hour 40 mins coach drive . Jax ,our guide, really made the visit with his knowledge of the castle plus some helpful tips for first time visitors re places to eat/visit in Munich on way back.Need trainers for hill walk to castle, but easy, well paced., could push a buggy easily.Worth picking up a roll for lunch before trip so can look round more. The castle is well worth going in to see but our castle guide rushed us round so couldn't stop to really look well, kept going on about the next group behind us.She seemed very disinterested but still worth doing as is amazing inside. Jax suggested trying the sweet dumpling/doughnut type delicacy at the stand outside the castle -they were superb!! You must try them! The glauwein was good too! Beautiful lake nearby which Jax showed us. Had a great time, thanks Jax!
Ali, our tour guide was the best! She was bubbly and very much engaging for the entire duration of the tour. She even managed to provide us with other interesting things to do in Munich.
