Best part about this tour is the bus. Okay, maybe not the best part. It is a long ride, but everything was first class. Single seat on each side of this luxury coach. We were made fresh coffees when we came on board! Other beverages were available to everyone throughout the day. The tour guide provided amazing insights throughout the long drives between spots. The castles and Bavarian country side is simply amazing. Quick tip for Neuschwanstein. If you are in decent shape, walk up. Walk all the way up to the bridge, get your pictures, then walk back to the castle for the tour. You can shuttle up and walk down instead, that is certainly an option. However, be prepared for a shuttle bus or two full of people scrambling for the perfect picture of the castle from that walking bridge. We walked up, and the timing worked out good as we were in between big loads at the drop point. I can seem a bit chaotic at Neuschwnstein, but the tour folks, and the people running the castle walk through have a refined process for handling it all. Some of the best pictures of our trip. Oh, and there will be several busses picking up folks in the morning for the small-group tour and other versions of this. If you are not sure what line to be in, don't hesitate to go up to anyone of the busses and ask that tour kind. They will point in the right direction.
Our wonderful tour guide and "Greek" driver were absolutely wonderful and had a fantastic time. The luxury coach is the way to go. Small group in very comfortable bus with snacks and drinks on the way made the trek to the castles very fun and enjoyable. Our tour guide shared the history of the castles along with a very nice back drop of the area and other unique data points about Ludwig and the family. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique experience along with visiting two wonderful places. Thank you!!
Great trip to see the beautiful Neauschwanstein castle and Linderhof Palace. The small group tour was worth the extra money to escape the crowds of Octoberfest. Debbie, our tour guide was excellent and provided some stories along with the history of the sites. Our driver Vladimir did a great job of not only driving but keeping us refreshed when we were stopped in the various locations.
Very informative, exceptionally well organized and all around perfect tour! Smaller group in a well equipped bus vs huge number of people in a double-Decker makes a lot of difference too. Our guide Monica was one of the best we've ever seen - knowledgeable, witty, funny and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour
Our Family really enjoyed this small group tour to Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, and Oberammergau! Ursula our guide was stellar! She really was so passionate when she was explaining all the history of the different places we were touring that day! We really appreciated all the visuals she used during her presentation of the history! Ursula and the tour was an outstanding experience! Ursula was very caring and warm ! Loved her humor and enthusiasm!
This is an absolute must! This day trip took care of everything....it"s exactly as advertized. My daughter and I had a fabulous time and learned a lot. The snacks and drinks were such a nice treat. Our guides were very helpful.
The trip to the castle was on my list for a long time and when we finally got there I was not disappointed it truly is a wonderful sight to see. The small group bus was amazing and mad the 10hr day very comfortable
Everything promised for this day trip was delivered. The driver and guide were exceptional. Only problem was the heat wave that was sweeping Europe made the walk up to the castle quite an exercise for my 70-year-old body! I would love to make this journey again in the late fall or early winter when there is a chill in the air and a bit of snow is on the ground.
Comfortable coach, informative and helpful guide and driver. An enjoyable and well organised excursion.
We rode a luxury bus that had one seat on each side of the aisle and was very spacious. Snacks were provided. Ursula our guide was very charming and a terrific story teller. We were lucky and had picture post card perfect weather. Be aware that there is a lot of stair climbing. Some members of the tour who were not in good shape were challenged. I recommend walking up to Neuschwannstein, but realize that you are 3,000 feet above sea level and may get a littler winded. We also had stop at Oberammergau, the Passion Play town. The tour is a full 10 hour day and very satisfying. It’s worth the extra money.
Fantastic views of Bavarian Alps. Great access to the castles, proper tour inside. Bus wonderful. Plenty of bathroom / refreshment breaks. Great way to spend my birthday. Debbie the tour guide deserves five stars, she was perfect - interesting, funny, informative, nice voice and the bus driver as well.
Tour guide seemed to be very knowledgeable about Bavarian and castle history and kept ride interesting by sharing just enough facts with just a smattering of opinion. Her instructions were easy to understand. Driver was attentive to passenger needs at each stop and seemed to genuinely care about customer comfort. My daughter and I felt only slightly rushed at Schloss Linderhof but thought we had more than enough time at Schloss Neuschwanstein. Highly recommend.
The tour was amazing!! Everything was well organized, the bus was comfortable and the castles are beautiful. I can absolutely recommend this tour!!!
My two 11-year-old granddaughters and I enjoyed this tour. The bus was incredibly roomy and comfortable, and we liked our guide. Although our stop in Oberammergau was compromised by torrential rain, we lucked out with sun in both Neuschwanstein and Linderhof.
This trip was fun , informative, relaxing, hospitable and exciting. One of the best guides, extremely knowledgeable, articulate and curteous and went beyond the norm.to explain the history and background of the area which is very welcome. The bus was very luxurious and well appointed, driver was helpful and curteous. 5 stars!! Danke!
We recently traveled to Europe and one of the main highlights was our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. The one day tour to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castles was fantastic and exceeded our expectations, especially Linderhof, mostly because we didn't know much about this castle previously. The host and driver were outstanding. The bus accommodations were very comfortable, the group size was perfect, and the hospitality was wonderful. Our tour guide, Stephanie was very knowledgeable and provided the perfect amount of information. We would highly recommend this tour!
The bus was very nice, it had it's own bar with food and drinks. The host and driver were fantastic. Small group of 17, so we got good attention and we didn't have to wait in any lines. The tour guide/host took care of everything. This is absolutely the right way to see the castles and the countryside.
Our guide,Stephanie, could not have been nicer or more attentive. We happened to pick a rainy day that also had a fire drill at the castle. She was able to reschedule our tour so we could see the inside of the castle. They also helped us warm up with hot beverages. We enjoyed seeing Linderhof too. With only 16 people in our group we were able to enjoy ourselves and truly relax on the bus.
We were wondering why this trip was so much more expensive than the other castle day trips. We were thoroughly satisfied at the end of the day that our experience was well worth the money. Firstly, the bus was truly plush. Snacks and drinks was available throughout (including beer/wine during the return trip). Our guide was Annette and she was indeed one of the best guides I have ever come across - we were lucky to have her on that day! Our driver was excellent and the drive was smooth and comfortable. The whole day was well-coordinated by Annette and everything went like clockwork. The views of the Bavarian countryside was awesome. Both castles were fabulous. Highly recommended tour!
This was a great trip for me and my son. The guides were informative and English was excellent. The bus was awesome and highly recommend the small group. We did some regular tours on our trip and the buses while nice were packed. This was 1 seat on each side of the aisle! Very cool castles and small German town. Highly recommended.
This small group luxury bus tour is really the best way to visit Neuschwanstein. The bus is fitted out with a smaller number of very comfortable seats and it has a drinks/snacks bar where you can help yourself to tea, coffee, and water and many lovely snacks. You get served as well at each stop. ON the way to Neuschwanstein you get interesting info about King Ludwig. Once you get to Neuschwanstein, the bus stops in the parking lot with all the other tour buses and you have to decide how to get up to the castle. The best round trip approach is to take the bus up to the castle and walk down. The queue for the castle bus is right next to the tour bus lot. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time (in May, we waited over 20 minutes for the bus). When you take the bus up, it drops you just 5 minutes from the infamous bridge where you can get your fab photos. You then have a mostly downhill walk to the castle itself. Our bus tour guide met us outside the castle entrance and made sure we were in the right spot at the right time to get into the castle for the guided tour (no outside tour guides are allowed). Inside you are given an audio guide that gives you the necessary info in each room (so you don’t have to worry about whether you’ll be able to hear or understand the castle guide). Once done, it’s an easy walk down to the bus lot (you walk down via the horse and buggy route – make sure you keep an eye out on where you are walking!). After Neuschwanstein, we went to a lovely little town where we had just enough time to have a stroll around and look for souvenirs. After that we drove to Linderhof, another of Ludwig’s castles. It was absolutely lovely and I’m so glad we got to see both castles in one trip. To top off the day, the bus guide treats everyone to a beer or wine on the way back to Munich. A lovely day made even nicer thanks to the bus drive and tour guide.
So glad we paid extra for the small group tour. Debbie was super friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks, snacks and coffee all day on the air-conditioned bus. Easy access into each attraction. Total enjoyment, zero stress. Loved it!
I have never been on a bus trip so comfortable. This was our last day of the trip and were very tired of being herded around in crowded buses. What a great surprise to take the luxury bus tour. The seating and service were superior to any tour I have taken in the past. What a way to end our trip.
Delightful tour. Ursula the tour guide was dear and made the experience exceptional. Her enthusiasm was evident in the information she provided. The bus driver was also very helpful serving coffee and drinks when not driving. Definitely recommend this tour.
The tour to Neuschwanstein is magical. Linderhof is opulent while the castle is just lovely with spectacular views. The tour is well run, very efficient with adequate time to wander a bit but and well organized ticketing with no ticket queues. Annette was our guide and was most interesting and informative adding personal stories to the narrative. The premium small tour is more expensive but offered large bus with wide comfortable seats, only 22 people onboard, and included coffee tea snack service on board plus beer and wine for the return home. Nice added touches. Excellent trip. I would highly recommend.
My wife and I were very much looking forward to visiting two of Ludwig’s much lauded and beautiful Palaces and chose this tour to make it a little more special and because it also included a little trip to Oberammergau. The coach itself was very very nice. Everyone has a nice window seat, drinks and snacks are offered there and back and the driver and tour guide were very nice. The journey felt very safe and the commentary from the tour guide was good. There is a WC on board and the tour guide pointed out the facilities at each destination. Our disappointment though came when visiting both Schloß Linderhof and Schloß Neuschwanstein. Schloß Linderhof is having massive works in both front and rear gardens making them inaccessible and making photos of the place itself almost impossible with getting cranes and bulldozers in it.Schloss Neuschwanstein was even more of a disappointment. Not only was there scaffolding covering the front, the bridge from which all those amazing fairytale photos were taken, was closed for maintenance. The interiors of both were fascinating but the exteriors are supposed to be the stars here.We received no notification of any of the disruptions or building works going on by the tour company. Given the extensive works, we should have been notified and given the option of cancellation.
The palace and castle were excellent. Especially liked the view from Neuschwanstein and the stop in the small Bavarian town. Had plenty of time to explore and eat a nice lunch. Wear comfy shoes as the walk to the castle is long and steep. Our guide Lucy was very informative on the bus. She and our driver provided us w excellent service. Great bus outfitted w a Jura for coffee on the way there and beers on the way back. Highly recommend this VIP tour.
Overall the experience was wonderful. We were just a bit out of season since all the water features were already covered for expected winter snow. I would recommend doing the "Small Group" tours rather than the bigger bus load of people. The tour guide provided lots of information about the trip getting to the castles, as well as, the castles themselves.
