This was a relaxing and informative way to visit some of the many beautiful and historic shrines and temples in Kyoto, with an excellent English-speaking guide. The grilled mochi snack and tea at an ancient Shinto shrine complex was a unique experience!
We had a great time with our guide who led us through some of the back streets of Kyoto as well as taking us to the different land marks along the way. I think the highlights were the tea house and the golden pavilion and also the zen gardens. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained different things along the way. A great activity to include in your travels - well worth the time.
I was in Kyoto by myself for two days and was looking for something active and social and fun. I've always found bike tours to be a great way to get to know a city and to meet people. This bike tour was great! Our guide Lianca (native English speaker, and pretty darn good Japanese too) took us through small back streets to the Geisha district, to shrines and temples big and small, and to a tea house where she knew the owner and we had tea and snacks upstairs (grilled mochi dipped in white miso and sesame sauce, yumm!). The highlight for me was biking off-road on a dirt path to a hidden Shinto graveyard in the misty rain (magical) and to a bansai nursery run for generations by the same family (one tree had been tended for 180 years). Also, the bikes were in perfect shape (not always the case in my experience). And talk about service - I left my sunglasses at the bike shop, and the owner brought them to me the next day at my local subway station! Overall a great experience. Highly recommended.
My fiancé and I had this tour all to our selves and it was amazing. We biked around Kyoto for over three hours with stops at many different shrines and temples, some big and populated, some small and hidden. The sites were beautiful, the biking was safe and easy, and our knowledgeable tour guide was wonderful. One highlight for us was visiting a tea house with a special treat of mochi, soy bean powder, and sweetened miso. All entrance fees were included. We really felt this tour was a great value for what we received.
Highly recommend this tour, knowledgeable tour guide who escorted us through gardens, shrines, street food venues and calligraphy classes. Exceeded our expectations and the cycling was easy, fun and safe.
Our tour guide, Jack, was excellent! The tour was well worth it and was one of the highlights of our trip to Kyoto.
