I wanted to write about one of the worst tours we have every taken. Let’s start with the tour guide, she was nice but knowledgeable at all, she did not anything about the food, when we asked her questions, she had to ask the people in the shops. She told us she has done many tours, but this seemed like her first. It was completely unorganized and she didn’t even think to stand in the shade when she talked for a while. This is not our first food tour (we have probably done close to 40) and it’s our favorite thing to do in a new city/country. She didn’t have preselected places, we walked to the largest market in Europe and she stopped at the first pretzel cart buying 3 of the 4 types of pretzels. We all (11 of us) shared these, which we were fine with we didn’t want to fill up. I know there is a lot of food on these tours. As we stood baking the heat/sun (35C) she talked to us about the market, and the little old lady at the cart yelled at us to not block her cart and move to the side. Next we walked a bit to a tiny shop that sold cheese. The tiny slice of cheese was super salty, and the next piece was super smoky. When we asked her questions about the cheese she asked the employee because she didn’t know anything about the cheese. We then walked about 20 minutes (super sweaty and hot at this point since we only stood and walked in the sun) to a bar, where we sat at two tables, our guide chose the other table to sit at so we talked with the people at our table. Here we had two shots of vodak and nothing else. After an hour, I asked when we would eat food because we didn’t eat lunch knowing we were going to have many things to eat, she realized the group was hungry and we started walking. We walked almost 20 minutes and reached a restaurant where we stood and waited for a while. She told us they must be busy and she didn’t call ahead, then asked what we wanted to do, (stand there waiting or continue on) we stated we were all super hungry and wanted to eat. She told us there was only soup here, but we can get it at the next place. So we left. While walking there was a crowd gathered and police up and down the street in support of the pope. She tried to explain what it was about but told us the wrong information, and a nearby person corrected her when hearing the wrong information. She said it was too crowded and we needed to go a different way to the next place, so we turned around are began another 25 minutes walk. Halfway through 3 people left the tour and w
This was a fantastic food tour! We have taken quite a few as we really enjoy eating and learning about different cultures/history. Eugene was a wonderful guide with a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge! So many interesting and tasty things to try! Really loved walking through the old market that was filled with locals and having a meal of traditional foods at a restaurant! Of course, finishing it up with vodka was a plus as well! You will not be hungry afterwards! Thanks Euguene!
Really enjoyed this tour. The guide Slawek was excellent throughout, very friendly and informative. The selection of food was great and this was a great way of finding out about real Polish traditional food and the history behind it. Wandering around the market was great and we sampled a selection of food chosen and picked by the guide including picked cabbage, Polish sausage and a traditional Kravov bread/bagel. The food in the restaurant was all tasty and it was great to hear Slawk's personal stories of the food we were eating and being December he told us about a traditional Polish Christmas and how the Polish celebrate and what they eat. After the meal we left the reataurant and went for coffee and cake. The 'Pope's cake' was esquisite and if we ever return to Krakow we will be hunting this locals coffee shop down to have another piece. To finish the almost 3 hour tour we went to a Vodka shop and had a sample of a flavoured vodka of our choice from the dozens of choices. The time flew by and we had to cancel our restaurant booking for the evening as we had eaten so much. Thanks.
The Krakow Street food tour was fantastic and was truly one of the best highlights of the trip. I cannot say enough good things about our guide Eugene, in fact he was so good we tracked him down the next day to take another tour! As for the tour, Eugene was a great guide and took us to several great places that covered restaurants, markets, and a farmers market. The food that he turned us on to was so good we that have stopped by one of the stalls hot goat cheese with cranberries three times and we had dinner last night at the restaurant he took us to visit on the tour. We could not have been happier with the tour, Eugene was tremendous, and as a bonus the food we tasted was all paid for by the cost of the tour. We recommend this to everyone who visits Krakow.
Excellent. Plenty of samples polish circle bread from a stand, food market samples of pickles, kraut, sausage, smoked cheese. A stop at a vodka store for samples, at a restaurant for soup, bread with spreads, and pierogi. And at a bakery for coffee and cake. Walking through the streets and hearing about the foods was fun. Our guide answered all out questions. If you like to try new things and want to sample Polish foods this tour is a great choice.
Despite being Rey hot and Humid our guide Mila did her very best. The food market and the restaurant she took us too had the best polish soup I've ever had and I'm Polish decent. My nephew who is 18 thought is was one of the best tours he went on in Poland.
Fantastic relaxed tour around the Old Town. Our guide was very friendly and full of interesting historical knowledge. We had food samples in the Market followed by a sit down lunch then some coffee and cake and rounded off with some incredible naturally flavoured Vodkas. You will definitely not be hungry at the end of this.
