We had the best time on our trip. Our tour guide Owen was the best! Our tour was awesome and two of our 3 bed and breakfasts were awesome. The one in Oban was terrible. It was old, not attractive and had a bad smell (which I think was mold). You should eliminate that bed and breakfast from your selection. It is called the Maridon.
The weather didn't cooperate but this was a great tour all the same. Tom was a great guide throughout and very caring in ensuring our accommodations met our needs - some of us less mobile than others.
We took the 5 day trip to Skye and there are no other words for it Russ was brilliant and made it happen every day. there were frequent comfort stops and the coach was comfortable with the ability to charge usb's en route The sights were varied and amazing beautiful and his commentary was fab, especially his soft lilting Mrs Doubtfire voice. We chose guest house accommodation and it was as advertised with great breakfasts, maybe not the most modern and the last one was a bit of away from the town, but that was because they tried to accommodate all 7 of us together. We were lucky in that the coach was a great mix of age and countries and Russ got on with us all. Thank you it was a memorable trip and for the price i would recommend it to everyone.
We had a wonderful time in Scotland. We booked 5-day best of Scotland tour. The bus driver/guide Andrew was a very entertaining and helpful person. bed and Breakfast places we stayed was nice and clean and they provided us with really tasteful food. The trip was memorable. We visited Eileen Donan Castle, Loch Ness, Isle of Sky, Oban and over 700 Km of bus ride through Scotland.
This tour is by Highlander Experience, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. My only caveat to that is that they should allow you as you book the tour which city you want to start and which you want to end the tour at and that is not a tour limitation as I learn on my tour, but a booking limitation from this site. I started the tour in Glasgow, to find out most people in my tour started in Edinburgh and lots were planning to end in Glasgow. Had I known that was possible I would made different plans. Our tour were 14 people from different parts of the world, and our driver/guide Tom was the best!!! We left Glasgow to Invaray and spent the first night in Oban, next day off we went to Glencoe, Ft Williams, took the Jacobite Harry Potter train to Malaigh and from there ferry to Skye.We spent that night there and the next day, after Skye off to Loch Ness, spent the night in a small town in the shores of Loch Ness, next day off to Culloden battle field back to Glasgow. And that is just a quick description of what you read on the itinerary of this tour, what you don't read there I picked guest houses for my tour is how every guest house or B and B we stayed are so welcoming. I have to say all of them, were even better than the hotels I stayed in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The owners all of them super friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was a great opportunity to chat with them an learn a little bit more about Scotland. If you are considering doing this tour, go ahead and book it you won't be disappointed.
The tour guide/driver, Tom, was superb! The beauty of the country was more than enhanced by his descriptions, especially his in depth historical knowledge and background commentary. Our enthusiasm was. however, tempered by the accommodations. We thought we had selected Superior Guest House with en-suites option. Half our nights were definitely NOT. To use the facilities which, as an old guy, is a requirement, we had to get dressed and climb to the third floor common bathroom facilities. There were no black out curtains sun rises between 4 and 5 AM!. The wifi was virtually useless. We only occasionally got a signal by sitting on the floor by the room's door. We originally thought the TV didn't work until I climbed up behind it and found they had turned off the mains behind the set but there were only a few channels anyway. There was another traveller on the bus that stayed in the guest house next door who mentioned that they had been expecting two more visitors. Maybe someone at your place messed up the assignments. There: two lines for the tour ten lines for the undercurrent of the accommodation. The rating would have been 5 stars for the daytime experience and two for the accommodations.
Over all the trip was fantastic. Our guide, Andrew, was extremely knowledgable about Scottish history and the region he was taking us. The only issue with a tour like this is no time for browsing and shopping. We did have an issue with Viator...we asked for double beds and got twins instead. One lodging showed us this was on the order.
