All trip was organized very well, everything was on plan. Only one thing made me a bit upsad, all trip took 20h and just in Machu Picchu was about 2h time, almost no time to make good pictures because there were so many people there and guide was hurry up too much! After was 3h waiting in Aguas Calantes what is without sense... better was to stay that time in Machu Picchu
I had difficulty finding the right meeting point. Very poor communication prior to the actual tour. Attempted calls and WhatsApp messages. I finally got my meeting point at 11 o’clock at night. And had to be there at 3:50 in the morning
Our trip began very early and when we met our guide Richardo we've already traveled in a minibus and a train for 3 hours. Richardo was excellent with his knowledge of Andians and Machu Picchu experience. After the guided tour, I had the afternoon to walk around and go to the hot springs which was recommended by Richardo and it was awesome! I would like to only add that my return trip was little confusing catching the bus and train and the bus back to Cusco was not explained very well. I had to make my own way back from the train station looking for a bus to take me into Cusco.
Great tour, really enjoyed it. The only problem was they only pick you up if your hotel is in the very center and mine was not so I had to go to the central square and wait for their agent at 3am although the police were present there and I didn't feel threatened. Then they put you on minivan, take you to the railway station in Ollantaytambo, put you on a train that follows a very scenic route, then one of their agents meets you in Aguascalientes at the foot of the Machu Picchu mounatin and puts you on a bus that takes you to the summit where their guide meets you and guides you around Machu Picchu it was a very nice guy and a very informative tour. They repeat the same process to take you back to Cusco and drop you off near the main square where you have to call uber or a taxi which are plentiful or just walk to your hotel as most are nearby.
The day before the tour a man came to our hotel unannounced, luckily we were there to receive him. In any case he provided us with important tour information. After his visit we both felt secure about the tour because before this we hadnt hear anything from the tour company. The man told us we needed to be ready between 3:30 to 4:00am the following morning to be picked up at our hotel. We were picked up a little after 4am. Subsequently we picked up other passengers,,, including friends of the driver which I found strange. The driver picked up people who were not a part of the tour and gave them rides to their homes, I assume. This caused us to barley make our train ride to Aguascalientes. The train ride went smooth. Once we arrived to Aguascalientes we got with our group and the tickets were purchased/redeemed. While waiting for this to be executed all of our group were just standing around waiting for our next directions. Finally after about 40 minutes we were told to go wait in line to get on the bus that would drive us up to Machu Picchu. We asked how long the wait would be and they told us 45mintues. We ended up waiting 2 hours, by this time it was passed 11am. We finally made it to the entrance of Machu Picchu,,,only to wait yet another hour for a specific tour guide to be done with his previous tour. I found out later that other guides were available to guide us through Machu Picchu, however the lady who was giving us direction wanted to wait for this specific guide. By the time we entered Machu Picchu it was close 1 in the afternoon. The tour would take 2 hours to complete. As directed the day before, we needed to be back at the train station by 3:20pm, to catch our 4:12pm train departure. To say the least my husband and I had to cut our tour short, we did not get the full tour due to time constraints. We left the tour at exactly 1:55 in the afternoon to be able to make it on time to catch a bus ride back to the train station. When we exited Machu Picch
Awful. I could not believe how disorganized this tour was. It made for an EXTREMELY stressful day and time at Machu Picchu. When I arrived to Cuzco, I had to rush to the office to pick up my tickets. Despite having confirmed the hotel drop off/pick up at my hotel earlier in the week, I was informed then that it was too far away for a transfer and I would need to arrange my own transportation to the meeting point. As a solo female traveler, who speaks very little Spanish, I refused to seek out a taxi at 3:30 in the morning on my own. At each location, I was told there would be someone waiting for me with a flag or with a paper with my name. This did not happen. I had to ask around to the other tour groups to help me. No one spoke English or explained to me what was going on. When I finally reached the entrance, the guide I was supposed to have was dismayed that I spoke English because, I signed up for a tour in English... how odd and dumped me off with another guide from another company. An absolute MESS. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
