Your day begins in the City Park (Városliget), which is one of the most exciting parts of Budapest. The City Park is not a natural, but a man-made park, it can almost be called an adventure park. Along the City Park, lake take a walk towards Zoo Boulevard, which has plenty of monuments in store. Here, you will also find the Gundel Restaurant, built in 1894 and its smaller associate Bagolyvár, the only restaurant in Budapest that has been employing women only. Going further down Zoo Boulevard, we reach the complex of Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, constructed in 1866. Pass by Széchenyi Bath and the Municipal Circus on the opposite side, where the first performance was held in 1891.
After a pleasant walk, you will see the famous Heroes’ Square, which is the most spacious, influential square in Budapest. Take the Millennium Underground to the downtown area. This is the oldest underground railway on the continent, having been inaugurated on May 2, 1896 by Emperor Franz Joseph. Running underneath Andrássy Avenue, it is definitely worth a try. The history of the subway line can be seen at the Millennium Underground Museum, which was opened to the public in 1975.
After, arrive to the Inner City. This is a part of the historic old town of Pest. Today it is a part of the 5th District of Budapest.
Budapest's main shopping street, Váci Street, is located there, as is a large part of the city's commercial life. The Inner City is situated on the banks of the Danube; its borders follow the line of the old city walls.
After lunch visit the castle area. Buda Castle District is a part of the 1st District of Budapest, named Vár (Castle). Numerous monuments of medieval origin, houses and public buildings built in the 17th and 18th century are to be found here. Buda Castle District consists of three main parts: Buda Castle, St George’s Square and the historical residential quarter. No sightseeing tour in Budapest is complete without visiting the Castle District.

We enjoyed this tour. George was a good guide. He took us to the locations which we wanted to visit. Since we only had one day in Budapest, we would not have been able to visit all these locations without a guide. The lunch included in the tour was also good.
Our tour guide George was knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth the extra money.
Thanks - he did a great job. Very knowledgeable and really enjoyed where he took us for lunch.
This tour was absolutely fantastic, mostly due to our private tour guide Gyorgy Molnar. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area. He made our day so interesting and fun with his pleasing and amusing personality. He packed in the most sites possible, never rushed us and actually stayed with us beyond our tour ending time. Gyorgy was definitely a 10. I would recommend this tour highly, especially if you are lucky enough to get Gyorgy as your tour guide. Jim and Linda Croddick, Bluffton, SC
Our private tour by car was outstanding! In just one day, we were able to take in the best of Budapest, thanks to our guide Jurák Zsolt and his driver. We were met in a timely manner in the lobby of our hotel. We were driven throughout the capital, with periods of walking in order to have a closer look. Among other things, we visited the Citadel, the Castle region and it's neighborhood, and Parliament. We enjoyed sharing a table with Zsolt for a traditional Hungarian lunch. We were so happy with our daylong tour that we engaged Zsolt for a half-day tour the following day. We visited Roman ruins on the outskirts of downtown Budpest, before proceeding to the picturesque Szentendre St Andrew's village. With it's old winding streets we were able to lose ourselves in a time from the past. We partook of local street food, and dined on pastries and coffee. We were able to choose marzipan from a local vendor, which we ate before leaving Hungary. We were then dropped at the airport with plenty of time for our 1:00 pm flight through London back to Chicago. We highly recommend our guide and his company, and will use them for future travel in the region. He was even able to give us advice on our upcoming cruise through Southeast Asia. Two thumbs up!
